The ending was definitely fine and doesn't ruin anything...

...especially if you wouldn't be watching it live (and with 8 years of build-up).

But you should trust your instincts. If it doesn't seem like your kind of show then it almost certainly isn't. It's basically an 80's style prime time soap opera (think: Dynasty) set in a medieval/fantasy environment (think: Lord of the Rings) and with acting and production quality closer to the latter than the former. It was awesome, but if that sounds stupid to you...I mean, definitely don't watch it. It's like 75 hrs of TV.

But if you happened to have watched any of the Lord of the Rings movies and thought, "This would be greatly improved by the inclusion of sex and politics," then you should 100% watch the hell out of it and ignore what people have been saying for the past month.
